Formative assessments practices

Teachers and students use formative assessment as a continuous process for teaching and learning. It helps students become more self-directed learners and enhances their comprehension of desired disciplinary learning outcomes. Formative assessment’s primary goals are to track students’ progress in learning and offer continuous feedback that can help both students and teachers make improvements to their lessons.

Feedback can occasionally be used to inform teachers on what their students have learned and to help them plan lessons. Notes on each individual piece of work may not be as relevant in this instance as assesing what the students have learnt. If you think about the goal of the feedback before choosing the best course of action, the time spent marking work and providing feedback can be somehow tiresome.
